במשך עשורים, פעילי דמוקרטיה וחובבי חירות ניסו "לבקש" מהפוליטיקאים זכות להיות שותפים. הסתכלנו בערגה על המודל השוויצרי של דמוקרטיה ישירה ותהינו: למה זה לא קורה אצלנו? התשובה האפשרית — והכואבת — יכולה להיות: "החתול שומר על השמנת".

דמוקרטיה ייצוגית, במבנה הנוכחי שלה, מרכזת את הכוח אצל הנבחרים ומאפשרת להם לפעול בניתוק מהציבור מרגע סגירת הקלפיות ועד לבחירות הבאות. אבל הבעיה היא לא רק אצל הפוליטיקאים. גם מנהיגים שבאמת רוצים לשמוע את הציבור נתקלים ב"קיר": הציבור לעיתים קרובות מפוצל, רועש, וחסר דעה מגובשת.

הנה מה שקרה:

• התארגנות בזק: תוך יום אחד הן הקימו קבוצת וואטסאפ של 210 פעילים.
• זיקוק החזון: באמצעות הכלים של WizCol, שאלנו את הפעילים: "מה החזון שלכם?" המערכת סיננה ודירגה את התשובות עד שנוצרה רשימת הסכמות רחבות ומזוקקות.
• הצבת תנאים למנהיגות: שלחנו את התוצרים למועמדים וביקשנו פגישה. מועמדת אחת חששה מהעימות ולא הגיעה. המועמד השני הבין את הפוטנציאל, קרא את החומרים והגיע מוכן. הוא דיבר אלינו "בגובה העיניים" ואימץ את התכנים שלנו.
• הניצחון: שבוע לאחר מכן הוא נבחר ברוב דחוק (17 אלף מול 14 אלף קולות). מיד לאחר שנבחר, הוא מינה פרויקטור ייעודי שיעזור לאקטיביסטיות לממש את החזון שגובש ב-WizCol.

When Representative Democracy Hits a Wall

For decades, democracy activists and freedom lovers tried to "ask" politicians for the right to be partners in governance. We looked longingly at the Swiss model of direct democracy and wondered: why doesn't this happen here? The possible — and painful — answer: "The cat guards the cream."

Representative democracy, in its current structure, concentrates power in the hands of elected officials and allows them to operate disconnected from the public — from the moment the polling booths close until the next election. But the problem isn't only with politicians. Even leaders who genuinely want to hear the public hit a "wall": the public is often divided, noisy, and lacking a cohesive opinion.

This is where WizCol enters the picture — and changes the equation.

One of the most remarkable examples occurred recently in the elections for the Kibbutz Movement. Just two weeks before the election, two activists approached me — they wanted to make an impact on environmental issues. From a cold political perspective, two women without a budget and without an oiled machine have no realistic chance of influencing anything in 14 days. But we didn't give up.

Here is what happened:

• Lightning mobilization: In a single day they built a WhatsApp group of 210 activists.
• Distilling the vision: Using WizCol's tools, we asked the activists: "What is your vision?" The system filtered and ranked responses until a refined list of broad consensus points emerged.
